Couple Quick Questions

1) do mantis shrimp need protien skimmers?
2)how big do they get?
3) i hear rumors of these guys breaking glass and whatnot, has anyone ever had a problem with this??

they vary in size some as small as an inch others to over a foot, so the tank size required depends on the species. Peacocks are commonly available and max out at about 7-8". Most other common types are much smaller maxing out at 4" or less. For a peacock a 20 - 30 gallon tank shoud be sufficient space and sturdiness. for smaller one 5 - 20g is sufficient relative to their size. A protien skimmermakes life easier, but is not absolutly neccesary.
