Courious...

I am courious who has used fish in place of the six line wrasse in their tank with the same results? I have been reading and the six line is the most commented about fish there is but the availability of a tank raised six line is remote locally. Most are wild caught and will soon die in the tank even in the biggest setup's....

Just asking out there?

I'd assume pyramid snails (but you know what they say about assuming ;) ) Anyway, personally I have not heard of any but would think other members of the Pseudocheilinus family.

Snails primarily but I have some gobies that'll take care of the flatworms though ;)

Specifically, what members have been tried of the Pseudocheilinus family?

I am looking for peace of mind here folks with something that is different for the Six Line.:D

TIA

Well, I have research the suggestion to use others from the Pseudocheilinus family. Well, it is not too encourageing....

The four line Wrasse- diet is mainly shrimp, crabs, clams

The same for the Eight Line...

Other suggestions?

When you say soon will die, how soon?My six-line grown from abot 1" to 5" in three yrs.Does it meen that it will soon die? It's a bumer.I hope it lives longer than that.

i have never heard of six lines having poor survival rates in captivity, normally its quite the opposite  if you are looking for something different you might try the yellow coris wrasse (not a true coris). it stays under 5" and per scott michaels it is a predator of pyramidellid snails.

I had a sixline for 5 years before he decided to got carpet surfing. (That was a very sad day!!!) He was very hardy, eat everything, never caused any trouble. I replaced him with an ornate wrasse. This line of wrasse will also eat snails, however, they are as hardy or as inexpensive as the six line.
