What should I put over my 1200 Maxi Jet powerhead and Fluval 404 intake so that an anemone and other critters wont get sucked up/through it?

You should put sponges (or netting) on them. I don't think any plastic grating will help, their tentacles can go through cracks when deflated.

The plastic grids are crochet grids. you can find them at any craft store. foob--if you make them fairly large, as karen has them, it minimizes the overall suction in a given unit area. Thus, your anemones cannot get sucked in if you do it this way, plus you don't have to worry about cleaning sponges. You can also "box" around the intake, reducing suction even further.
