covering power heads

I was hoping to insert a Tunze inside a PVC pipe, and then cover it with rocks to both hide the powerhead and protect the anemone.

Would drilling 1/4" holes in the pipe work well enough to supply enough waterflow for the powerhead?

Anybody else done anything similar?

Anywhere there's an opening, an anemone can into it. I dont think your pvc idea would work. There's only 1 safe way, imo. Remove all powerheads and install a closed loop.

yep, the nems are clever at seeking their own death. i lost a green tip BTA that went through the eggcrate. i could never find similar one anywhere again, there are someone out there but they dont want to sell to me because i am not local to them :(

Closed loops have intakes as well don't they? How do you stop the BTA from being sucked into them?

I'm planning on a shallow system 24x24x12 with minimal rock work, like the picture below;

If I were to set up a nem only tank like this, could I just buy larger return pumps and use them for flow? I was thinking 30-40x turnover rate so 900-1200gph?

Just over 10 on my tank with a closed loop. About 30 on m tank witout a closed loop. Keep in mind those are turnover rates, as you asked about - not flow rates.

Can't wait to see this setup come into action. Please post more pics.
