Anyone ever keep a long horn cowfish in a reef? Just wondering because i hear if they get stressed they could wipe out your tank.Just saw one at the lfs and it looks really cool. Personal experiences?

I had one in a LPS dominant reef for a year. Great fish. Lots of personality. Didn't bother any corals other than leather. Had to return the leather coral back to LFS coz it just kept on eating it. Nuked the whole tank when I upgraded the powerhead.

What sized tank? As a point of reference.

I have only heard long term success with this kind of fish is a large system like 500 gallons.

400 gal. Has anyone ever seen a large one in an aquarium?

I would advise having a large activated carbon media reactor, to help soak up the toxin should anything go wrong.

I think i'll pass for now. Large fully stocked reef, sps,lps, too much to lose on the risk.

Corals and inverts won't be affected by the toxin. I currently have a small male blue box in my 50 gallon reef.
