I vote for the darkest finish, pops against the slate nicely and is a bit darker than the floor which I think would look nice.

But then again I just love dark furniture.

I was thinking dark when I started, now seeing the clear I like that now.

I had a picture in my mind of this big rich dark unit almost like a old antique cabinet or wardrobe.

Oh well, I leave all these decisions up to the P.M.;)

I like the darkest walnut myself. That is the color I thought I was going to use for my own woodwork, but now I'm wondering if cherry wood would look better.

I think either the dark or light would work. Either will contrast with the floor, whereas the middle one blends into the floor too much IMO. With the bright aquarium, dark may look better, may make the aquarium stand out more. Most of the wood in my house is light / clear though so ...

Marc,
You should take a little time to think about it...We wouldn't want you to rush in with your woodworking or anything.

I vote for the darkest also, my stand and canopy are covered in bigh-gloss black formica and I love it, it gives the tank contrast to the bright lights.

Don't make me report you to the banning committee. ;)

Looks like the dark is going to be it, not only has almost everyone voted for it but the vote that counts likes it too.:D

I agree the dark will go good with the tank and the light will take away from the viewing pleasure.:D

Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve noticed that I suddenly have a lot of Bristle Worms in my fuge. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve noticed some in the display out on the LR during the day. I donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t know if the new system doesnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have enough food for them and they are searching for food. I would say there are about 60 or so that I can see in the fuge alone.

no worries with the worms.. their population (as far as I've observed) waxes and wanes.. if anything, its a valube source of food.. for wrasses, etc. I have a ton in my fuge as well, crawling all through the chaeto. I have a lot of meduesa worms too, their are multiplying like rabbits, and are far cooler to watch.

Do you like the skimmer so far?? I may be getting one soon from a trade. I have no room to hook up my big skimmer and my nautilus is definitely not the best.

Well it's early, I have only had it running fro 2 weeks but it seems good so far.

I set up my Kalk reactor and auto top off today, I went with the method one of our LFS uses. I have the RO/DI go into a small Rubbermaid container that has a float valve and that is gravity fed into the Kalk reactor wich runs into the float valve in the sump.

Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m going to have the RO/DI on a timer for about 1 Ã"šÃ‚½ hours a day in the evening when Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢m home. I made a bracket out of acrylic and siliconed it to the side of the sump. I wasnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t going to do that but the LFS swears by it so weââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ll see how it works out. I used a larger footprint giving it more surface area for the silicone to hold to, it seems very sturdy.

The Rubbermaid container holds about 4g and I put it behind the power panel so it can drain into the reactor.

When I hooked it up a couple of ounces went into the sump and my PH went from 8.24 to 8.51 and has now leveled of at 8.34. I had some trouble with dripping from the whit fittings on the back of the Kent float valves. I tightened them right up but they still have a very slow drip, should I use Teflon tape on them or something?

You better pray that top off never stays on for some reason. That is one of the things I don't trust about kalkwasser, as it will spike your pH so easily.
