The key word is "yet" as it appears to be a member of the xanthidae. Something to keep an eye on as they can become quite destructive.

My guess is a Stone Crab (Menippe sp.)

Cute crab - how big is it? Google image makes me think he'll get massive. If you don't trust him in the long run I'll gladly take him off your hands

I have a stone crab in my tank that is roughly the size of a quarter. Never seen one that is blue. Nice looking crab.

Charles was right. It's a xanthid, not a stone crab.

So I can tell the difference in the future...
What characteristics make you believe that it is a xanthid and not a stone crab?
I would have guessed xanthid too(shape of shell, dark tipped claws, large claws), but juvenile stone crabs look pretty similar.

Are stone crabs infrequent hitchhikers?
