This second one i had a hard time getting a good shot all i can desribe him as is, he has somewhat large blackish claws, his legs are white and black banded as you can sorta see in the pic. any ideas?
Not sure what kind of crab those two are. But from reading a lot of post here and reading on my own. Most crabs with dark brown to black claws they are not reef safe. And when they get bigger they are not safe with anything. I would put them in your sump. Don't kill them. To bad I don't live closer I would take them of your hands.
This is a Black Fingered Mud crab - Xanthid crab. He arrived on a coral when small, but has grown quickly. This guy is black in real life; this picture is misleading. His pinchers remind me of a Mithrax crab, but it has 'teeth' within the claws. Because he can't be trusted, he's been transferred into my refugium where I hope he'll be happy and trouble-free. Xanthids are Not Reef-safe.
