Crab Trap

I recently purchased a 75g off of a guy. While cleaning the rock of majanos I poked in a hole at something and it moved. It seems to be a large crab. Dark (green?) plating and red bead-like eyes. I've had the rock in a q-tank for some time now and the guy won't come out. I've contacted the seller and although he had the tank for a couple of years, he never saw the crab either.

So I was thinking of making a trap where you invert the top of a plastic bottle so that I could get a pic of him for identifiaction and care. I have a gatorade bottle with a wide mouth since I don't think there is anyway that he could get into a regular sized drink bottle opening. I was wondering what I should bait the trap with? I have marine cuisine and emerald entree and fbs. Will any of these do? Also, any tips on the trap would be appreciated.

A lot of people use a clean glass and lean it against the rock work. They then put a piece of raw shrimp it. The crab crawls in after the shrimp and cant crawl out.

FM, how exactly do you "lean" it? Is it upright? Is the idea that the inside of the glass is too slippery for him to crawl back out?

Just put it in your tank and tilt it at a steep angle so the top is resting against the rock work. And yes that is the idea. :)
