Crab v. Goby

I got an acro crab with one of my frags. I would really like to pick up a yellow clown goby too. I have a couple different acro frags and the crab stays in the one he came in on. If I pick up the goby can the share the acro (there is room) or will they fight over it? If they fight over it will one move to the other acro or is it likely for one or the other to be injured/killed?

Generally, most people have issues with yellow clown gobies picking at the polyps of Acropora.

I've had a green clown goby for a couple years and have not had that problem - and now and then IMO I hear of people having decent luck with green clown gobies ... but if it were my choice, I would skip a yellow clown goby.

As for the crab - they'll probably both be ok, provided there's enough space. But given how many threads I've read on yellows being problematic - I wouldn't get one.

I'd do a search on the clown goby. Most have had bad expereinces with them and sps. I will never put one in an sps tank again.

Thanks guys. I guess that's one more thing I've read in books about fish that turns out to be counter to real-world aquarium experience.

well iv done some reeding on them and i have read that the dont pick at the polyps but they are actually eating stuff of the acro and maby making it close but they wont hurt the acro from what iv read and i have also had one with my sps and had no problem

hhmmmm.... That is also what Nilsen says in "Reef Secrets" and Renner says the same in "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist"

I saw my yellow clown golby grab the pylop of a milli and rip it out of the coral like a dog playing tug-o-war.

I will never put another one in my SPS tank.

My green one never ate pylops, but he did annoy the corals by sitting in them all the time.
