Crack union help?

Okay, so I got the new Octopus DNW-150 recirc skimmer from TitansFan, and finally got it all plumbed in, and got the new orings for it.... I go to hook it up, and yep! I broke it... stupid me, I'm ALWAYS doing this with the small unions. Basically, this piece http://www.marinesolutionsinc.com/c...i-Assembly-for-the-OTP-3000/product_info.html was tightened down too far, and it cracked at the base. Unfortunately, it's glued up with a metric union and elbow, so I can't exactly order this and be good to go. I'm trying to track down a replacement part, and if all else fails, I'll try to source the appropriate metric union, elbow and connector pipes to make my own, but I may be outta luck all around.

The way that it cracked it perpendicular to the outlet hole, at the base. Essentially, parallel to the threads. It's not broken all the way around, so I'm thinking I might be able to repair it. I just need some ideas on what to use. This is a thin walled plastic, not PVC, just like a "normal" plastic. Honestly, I could probably super glue it to get it back together, and then run a bead of silicon around the whole thing, but am curious to what you all think.

Thanks for the help, as always, in advance!

You might be able to fix it with some thin weld-on. I'm not sure who in the club has some. The other option would be to talk to Sean at Emerald Bay. He might be able to help you order replacement parts.

Yea, weld-on is good and home depot's aqua-mend is advertised to seal plumbing leaks, I personally have not used it for that. Good luck

Okay, so weld-on will work with just regular plastics? I wasn't sure, I thought since it was designed for acrylic it might not work.

Norman, good point on the aquamend. I checked the break out last night, and it'll actually be past the oring, so as long as I can get it to the union to seal, this is really more of a strength issue than a leak issue. I am almost positive that I won't get a leak from the crack, but the weakness might cause a leak around the oring if I can't tighten it down enough.

I am planning on checking with Sean as well, the skimmer did come from ebay originally.

Thanks for the insight.
