man i totaly blew it i cracked my brand new rc500 skimmer total
idiot its about a 1" crack that runs from the drain hole up to near the top of the skimmer i went ahead and used a 2 part clear epoxy to try to fix it this sucks sooooo bad anyway has anyone ever purchased a rc 500 skimmer body? was wondering what the cost was euro reef is closed and i could not find that replacement part on thier site... thanks

Ouch, that sucks :-(

I haven't had great luck with epoxy (putty or liquid) bonding acrylic. Carefully letting some Weld-on wick into the crack might work better.

i have already used the epoxy oh well if it does not work gonna
have to buy another skimmer body...

I used JB weld to fix my skimmer, but its body is probably extruded PVC and not acrylic. It might work on acrylic, try it before buying a new body.

can i just go over the epoxy i used already? im going to try to run
it tonight and see if it leaks should i epoxy the inside as well? or
just the outside? thanks

maybe you can send the body to Euro-reef, I am sure they can help you out. That body is going to be expensive, I have tried to buy a replacement cup, and even that was high (OUCH !!!!)

can i use weldon over the epoxy i already used? or should i just use the weldon 16 on the inside? see if that works? if not how can i get the epoxy off? acetone? can i get weldon 16 at lowes or
hd? thanks luke

No you 'll have to order the weldon 16 from a plastics co. Check the diy forum for suppliers. yes you can use it on the inside or you could put it over the epoxy on the outside, either one would work.

not worried about performance that should be fine its an external skimmer so it cant leak..
if you have room in your sump you can run it in there. That is what i do for my das ex-2.

RC500 is a big skimmer (12" diameter and 3x Eheim pumps). It would have to be a pretty large sump.
