Crazy 1K Gallon Multi-Display Concept - PICS

I was bored today and thinking about possible designs for my next tank project. I went a little overkill with this one but I thought it was a cool little concept anyway and decided to share it with you all.

Critcism is welcome!

The idea, (if it can be said there was one! ) was to incorporate a 10 gallon frag tank, 10 gallon 'pod farm, 125 gallon refugium, 300 gallon display, and a 555 gallon display all into one massive unit. I told you it was crazy!

The design was thrown together in Photoshop. I did spend a little time guestimating approximate tank sizes and used the Tank Volume Calculator located on the homepage of our very own RC to total the volumes together. I will list the little specifics that I have below the pictures.

Here you go, here is a shot from the Front:

and here is one from the Left Side:

Here are the individual tank specs I came up with in my guestimations.

Frag Tank & Pod Farm (Front Pic - Left and Right sides):
20" x 10" x 12" - 10 Gallon (10.4 approx) each.

Refugium (Front Pic - Lower Middle):
72" x 20" x 20" - 125 Gallon (124.7 approx)

Display Tank 1 (Front Pic - Upper Middle):
80" x 36" x 24" - 300 Gallon (299.2 approx)

Display Tank 2 (Left Pic - Rear): (sorry no back shot - just imagine its as long as it is wide!)
80" x 80" x 20" - 555 Gallon (554.1 approx)

The total system volume, when calculated using the approximate volumes, comes to 998.8 Gallons giving me my claim of 1,000 gallons.

 Who wants to help me move it into my kitchen??? :D

Yikes, to go from a 55 gallon to a 1000 gallon system. That is a large change. Your power bill will go up slightly.

I think it is a cool idea. I will help you move it, but you will have to give me your first frag out of your new frag tank. (-:

That is a lot of coral.

Good luck,
Chris

No WAY I would up to a 1K system this early into the hobby! lol, I have a hard enough time with the 55 at the moment, and actually am retiring it for a few months until I am more stable and do not have to move again for a couple of years.

I have to move this weekend and then again in about 3-4 months into my new place. I will be using the meantime to build the stand/canopy for the 55. Although I will most likely be converting the 55 into a refugium and building my own DIY 150-200 gallon with the stand and canopy so that I can plumb it all as I wish.

If so, I will take pictures the whole way through and start a thread to show it all off when I'm finished.

For all of you who are concerned about my current inhabitants - I am trading my Tang back to the LFS where he will be more well off than in my boss's tank! As for the damsels and starfish, I will be giving them to my brother who very much wants them. They will stay in my 5 month old established 10 gallon until we have his 20 gallon cycled and ready.

This thread was more for showing off my 'spurr-of-the-moment' design. Thanks for the post!
