Hey,
I've got 390 watts of PC lighting on a 24" aquarium it "looks" as bright as some MH setups I've seen just without the cool rippling. Anyway do you think I can get away with a derasa clam?

ALSO,

I've got this idea from a Tank of the month feature, but modified the idea. I've got a micro soda fridge I got from walgreens a while back (a gift) it is about the size of a bag of sugar and it keeps things under 40 degrees. What if I drilled it and put a dosing system using a digital timer and air pump with an inverted bag or bottle filled with DT's and maybe some frozen brine or something. sure I'd still have to change it regularly but I think the sub 40 temps should keep it from spoiling and I'd be providing a more stable environment- at least nutrient wise. Tell me if I've lost it or if I'm on to something.

Not sure about the fridge idea, but your lighting is fine for a Derasa clam. These are low light clams so PC's will work just fine for it. Keep in mind like all low light clams this guy will get big!

on the lights yes

on the mini fridge NO!!
Let me explain. If is is the one I am thinking of, you plug it into a car cigarette lighter or into a wall outlet. These cool/heat with a energized gel. If you drill into the side of it you will be going through the gel. You have many possablities for failure here. Both on contamination and on electrocuting your tank.

These "fridges" work by sending an electrical current through the gel causing it to cool or heat depending on which way the current runs through it. They work better as a heater than as a cooler.

Just my 2 cents

Also the DT would settle out of the solution. I think the fridge thing would be a nightmare. The clam would be great though.
