crazy find now confused

I was just looking at my reef tank and decided to move a rock to my fuge for my cbs to have more hiding room, then it looked weird so I moved another rock and flying across the tank was what appeared to be a big amphipod holding something. then it was gone, then it came back and I got a better look, what I thought it was holding was actually a huge claw and it looked like a baby pistol shrimp. it was large amphipod size looked just like one but had a huge claw, so I assume this is what it was. now I havent added rock in months, but I have had loud clicks at night and sometimes during the day for about 8 months. and figured on a pistol. but is it possible that they are reproducing in my tank? I tried to catch it to confirm and ran down the stairs for my net like a mad man and came back to my six line with something pretty big in its mouth

it was probably a pistol. i doubt they would be larvae would survive to to adult size as they would be a quick snack for your fish.
