Hey, I picked up some livestock (corals, crabs, fish) and placed in QT this weekend and check out what I found on the glass today!

You're right, it's a predatory nudibranch, a zoa eater. Homeytwist, you need to start examining & dipping your corals right away to make sure there isn't a population explosion. Great picture though!

Dip, don't dip! I can't win hahah! I did a FW dip on some Euphylia (spelling?) and nearly killed it http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1924368 This time I just acclimated and placed into QT... Corals are doing great but clearly we have unwanted guests in there also. Oh well, I guess that's what QT is for. LeslieH, What dip are you suggesting? FW or some other medicated dip?

BTW, thank you for the links HanoverFist, I've bookmarked those pages for future reference.

in the other thread i'm pretty sure they said to use saltwater when dipping not freshwater. i think zoas can survive a FW dip but its harsh on them. Euphyllia should not get a FW dip.

ive dipped zoas and monti cap in Revive but i used clean saltwater at DT temperature. i did not dip my euphyllia.

montipora and zoanthid commonly have predatory nudibranchs that hitchhike on them (and eat them). euphyllia, as far as I know, do not.

I FW dip all my zoas and I've never lost a frag/colony from it. I've even left a massive colony in FW for nearly 2 hours by accident and thought for sure that I'd lost it, but even that recovered. It was definitely not a proud moment at all, but I think in general zoas are pretty bulletproof.
