Crazy Salifert alk reading

I ran out with my old Salifert kit, and got a new one. With the old one, it reads 8.2dkh. And with the new one, it reads 18dkh (yes, one 1ml tube is not enough). Does anyone have similar experience? How can I trust it if it differs so much? I also posted on Salifert forum, and am wondering if anybody here has similiar experience.

Get another one, or have someone else do another with an independent kit. How many times did you repeat with the new one? How old is the older kit.

With it that high, most would be dead........Are your snails grazing or are they "sleeping". That is a really good indicator of high alk. How about Polyp extension, most stuff shrivels up in high alk......

Chaotic Reefer4u, thanks for sharing your experience. Dots, I tested twice with the new kit, and both times got 18dkh. I am pretty sure the new kit is way off, as my corals and snails are very healthy with good PE, and I did another test with another less accurate kit I have got left from before. The following are the numbers:

Old kit:
Expiration: 05/2011
KH-Ind: 0406-E
KH: 0306-B

New kit:
Expiration: 06/2011
Kh-Ind:0606-B
KH: 0606-B
