Crazy Wrasse

I have a six line that kills turbo snails. It sees them on the glass and boom it nails them off the glass. It doesn't attack the shell it attacks the head or body of the snail. Currently I have a false perc, jawfish, BTA, and the wrasse. Is there another fish that I could get that would keep the wrasse busy and not bother any of the other fish in the tank. The wrasse only attacks the snails. It is afraid of the jawfish and doesn't mess with the clown as it is usually around the BTA.

Please give me some advice.

My spouse has a six line who thinks nassarius snails are a tasty snack ... do you keep your fish well-fed? Is it only that type of snail he has a taste for, or all types?
 
That is the only one that he likes. I have about 5 Nass snails and about 30 astreas. He only likes the turbos. But its not like he is hungry. He doesn't knock them off then eat them. He just thinks its fun or something to knock them off. Thats why I thought if I get another fish for it to fight with or chase or whatever, then that may solve the problem. It needs to be busy doing something else.
 
Another option is to try and catch him without taking all the rock out. Has anyone tried taking a 1 liter coke bottle, cutting the top off and inserting the top backwards into the bottle and putting some food in there and then see if the fish will swim in. I have caught minnows for fishing this way, but this is the only idea I can come up with. does anyone else have any ideas.

So is the six-line actually killing the snails or just knocking them off the glass? Mine did this for awhile when I fist got it but I haven't seen it do it in months.

How long have you had your six-line and how big is it? And how long has it been knocking the snails off the glass?

Mine got more aggressive as it grew but after we added a Kole tang, several times its body mass, it seemed to step back a bit. I would be hesitant to get another fish for your six-line to fight to 'save' some snails.
 
I have had it for around 6 months. It is 3" long. It is one mean SOB. It killed a Black False perc last week and it has been doing the snails in for around 2 months now. So after you added the kole tang it quit the snail business? I thought about a tang but it may be too much for my system. Also I would be afraid it might get into the BTA, which is around 9" DIA. What do you think.

I know that it would be wrong for me to get another fish for the wrasse to fight, but I am a little mad about the snail stuff. And looking for solutions.

yeah my computer was giving me fits earlier. So would you try to catch the fish or maybe add another fish. I will try the catch idea first when I get home. I will let everyone know if it works.
 
I tried the catch trick and it worked, but I had a little mishap. I actually felt sorry for the wrasse which my wife named "Sly". Man I guess I do have a heart. Oh well. So Sly stays.

I have been wanting another fish, but I just don't know what kind. I have to consider all of the other life in the aquarium now. Does anyone have any suggestions?
 
You don't have alot in your tank now, I assume you have a skimmer and liverock ... there's several types of <a href="http://www.wetwebmedia.com/ctenocha.htm">Ctenochaetus</a> or bristle-tooth tangs you could choose from, they're good little guys.
 
I do have a skimmer and live rock. Tank perameters are perfect. I like what I read. Do you think that a tang like that would bother a jawfish? Do you think that a Tang like that would get eaten by a BTA? Those are my main concerns.
 
I don't know anything about jawfish, sorry :)

It would be fine with a BTA, we have one in a 70g that has one 10" BTA, and three smaller ones, and nobody has ever been eaten. He's a busy little guy, always chuggin around the tank looking for some algae to munch on. He actually goes after the Lawnmower Blenny whenever it gets mean ... so he's our "tang police" lol.
