Creating a Nielsen Reactor

OK I am creating a Nielsen Reactor. All of the pluming parts except the 2 13" clear PVC sections were purchased at my local Home Depot and or Menards.

The 13" Clear PVC I found on ebay for $9.00. I also got the 4" PVC union on line as I couldn't find one locally.

Here is the Plan. I welcome any comments or questions.

got it backwards.

pump output to bottom.
pump intake at top.

a mag 7 is a bit overkill, if youve got it go ahead and use it.

I made some changes. I am going to get started on putting this together over the weekend.

douggiestyle, yes I noticed that I had the in and out wrong. I believe I have it correct now. The mag I had so thought it should get some use. I put the flow controls in so that I can cut it back.

mags are notorious for leaking and melting when run externally, FYI. just getting a cheap MJ600 would be better IMO

Can the Maxi Jet 600 be run externaly? What size are the connections?

lots of people run the maxis external, even the commercial builders. but i personally don't fully trust it since it's slip fittings and a weak o-ring. i got a small panword for the one i'm making. it's got real threads and a bombproof seal since it's made for external. i was hoping it would have a ceramic bearing in the impeller like the bigger ones do, which would make it much more durable against the kalk but it doesn't. so i'll see how it lasts, and if it wears out too fast i'll swap up to the next bigger panworld which does have the ceramic bearing.

Manderx, What Pan World are you using? Thoes look expesive. $100.00 for the 40PX

premium has a tiny one for ~65. if you want a ceramic bearing though, you gotta bump up to the 30 for ~90. replacement impellers for the tiny one are $15. no clue on how will it will hold up to kalk though, i figure worst case it's not much more expensive than new maxi impellers. and if it's too bad i'll just swap to a different pump.
