Creating a wave in a 75g with 1 pump

What is the best method for getting the wave motion in a 75g tank?

Im guessing pulse mode and set the speed to as high as we can go without blowing stuff away ... but the pulse speed ? Slow or Fast?

Start at the highest frequency (fasted pulse) which is the left most side of the knob and then turn the knob clockwise very slightly and wait to see if a wave is created. Repeat this procedure until you get a wave going.

Yea we actually got one going quite well last night. However, we ran into another slight issue

When running in pulse mode with the speed all the way up (not the pulse frequency) the wave driver seemed to hesitate at times.

Normally it would run like this (listening to/feeling the pump -- and watching the blue light):

XXXXXXXXX (pause) XXXXXXXX (pause) XXXXXXXX

But when at full blast (just a little bit below full blast fixed it) the driver would go

XXXXXXXX (pause) XXXX (hesitate) XXXX (pause) XXXXXXXX

Almost as though it wasnt getting full power during a pulse.

We tired another outlet just to make sure something wasnt going on in that aspect but it still happened on another outlet.

It really doesnt matter since running full blast in pulse with a wave going piled all the sand on one side of the tank so we throttled it back anyway, but just something we noticed.

Also, if we set the pulse mode and then switch over to Reef Crest. If we wanted to go back to Pulse mode, would we need to reset the speed/frequency or will it hold the previous setting?

This is somewhat normal and has to do with the programming involved in making the pump pulse. It's nothing to worry about.

Currently if you switch out of pulse mode and go to another mode you will lose your wave setting. This is something we're working on correcting.

Will pulse mode wear down the unit more quickly? I've noticed my Vortech gets much hotter when running in pulse mode.
