Creating a wave

I have a 150 gallon tank. 60Lx24Wx24H. I have (2) 6105 Tunze with the 7092 controller. I have one 6105 on each end of the tank off set to one another. I just got the controller the other day so I only had a few minutes to play with the controls. But could not get a wave to form. When I press the -/+ buttons it didn't seem to change much. I'm I suppose the press the button multiple times before any significant changes are seen? Where s the ideal spot for the pumps to be? Right directly opposite of one another? Or is it possible le to ha e them off set? At what depth should the pumps be at? TIA

Your positioning is fine, however you need to open the controller and set it to inverse, this is covered in the manual. This way the pumps are opposite each other so one pushes and the other pulls. + and - change the time .01 seconds starting at .30 and ending at 2.00 so it is 170 pushes from end to end of wavemode. Use the auto tune button instead. Hold it for 2 seconds and the wavemode light will start to blink, it will then advance .01 seconds every 3 seconds and you just hit auto tune again when you see a wave. You can then fine tune with the + and - buttons. Also, be aware the controller has a pulse mode which is what the knobs are for (setting two speeds) and this is active after 2 seconds and runs to 10 seconds, the light for pulse will then be on. This is the wrong mode for what you are trying to do.

Modifying the controller, will that shorten the life of the 6105's? Having them push and pull?

It is not a modification, it is a deliberate setting and it is explained in the manual how to do it. It won't affect the warranty.
