Crinoid squat lobster

If it really is a squat lobster then it's a filter feeder or a detritus feeder which means it's reef safe. There are also a couple of other crabs & shrimp that look like the crinoid squat lobster.

Here's my little buddy. Just got him today. They are commensal on Crinoid sea stars. They use them for locomotion, apparently, and don't really need them in captivity. Thank goodness, because I don't know anyone that can keep a crinoid feather star.

Ya know, I never thought to check over the crinoids I see on the reef for such critters. Will have to do so next time out. Thanks!
