crocea and polyps

In the location that my first crocea attached, there are about 5 polyps started and spreading. Is this going to be a problem if they hit the clam's byssal? Also, my other crocea, placed next to this one is "gapping" more so then the first, which never gapped. How long can this go on? I have only had this one for 5 days and it is starting to attach. It also has a couple of tiny "feather dusters" or tube worms on its shell, these should be a problem ar they?

TIA

When the clam attaches to the rock it will pull its shell so close to the rock that nothing should be able to get to the byssal foot. Gaping is not a good sign. I haven't experienced it myself but from what I've read in the forums it won't usually last very long because the clam is severely stressed and will probably die if its conditions aren't improved immediately. I don't think the feather dusters will bother the clam.
