Crocea Clam in MY TANK

Ok....please dont badger here, I was saving the clam. I went to a LFS, good equipment store, bad Live Goods store. Everything they get only last about a week. They literally have to scoop the dead fish out to make room for the new ones coming in. I really hate that store but still find myself always going back out of curiosity. Anyway they got a clam in today, a green and purple colored crocea. I can post pics tomorrow. Well my question is can I try to keep this clam or try to sell it to a better LFS for credit. My tank is, or was a FOWLR. The lights I have a 4X96 watts with 10Ks and actnics. I have a 125 gal with a flame angel, boxfish, niger, couple of gobies, a couple of clowns. Is there anything here beside the light problem that is an issue. I am open to all suggestions, even getting rid of it. Just couldnt sleep at night knowing it was going to die. It was just to pretty. Its about 4" and opened up within the first 10 min introduced into the tank. Really gorgeous.

watch out for the angel or niger they may pick at the clam. if you are just holding the clam the lighting you have is ok, probably better than the LFS. If you plan to keep the clam the fish and lighting would be issues.

i agree that the fish and lighting will be an issue for long term care. i would also add the boxfish to the list of fish not to have with clams.

i know its noble to try to save something from what might be certain death, but you have to think of it like this. if your LFS doesnt have the ability to keep something alive and no one buys it, in time they will learn and stop buying them. but if someone comes in and buys it they will keep doing it.

Exactly. Expect to buy another clam the next time you in there, because they've just learned they can sell them.
