I've got 2 clams in my 90 gallon, a T.Crocea (probably around 4" long and 1 1/2" wide or so) and a T.Maxima (this is under 3"). I run the Aquactinic's T5 5x54W lighting fixture. Both clams were placed under the light in the same area, about 10" or so from the surface of the water.
Just the other day my Crocea jumped, he left his foot on the rock (still on there actually, I am not a fan of removing things in this area, the shrimp attacks me everytime I go near it).My boyfriend moved him up when he noticed it, and he jumped again, as when I got home he was in the sand, so I attempted to place him back up (as I had no idea about earlier).
Well now he jumped again and is resting about 4" from the bottom of the tank on a ledge. He looks happy, but I thought they liked more light. He's been in the tank for a few months now and we never had any issues before. The Maxima is still at the top of the tank, and looks great as well.
Something to worry about? Should I remove the foot or can I just leave it to go away on its own? I haven't dealt with him jumping before, so I wasn't sure.
