Crocea Clam Placement

I have a 90g with an ATI 6x54w fixture. I am interested in getting a crocea clam. Where is the best location for the clam (on the sandbed or the LR).

Both the sandbed and on the LR would be okay because the ATI fixtures are high quality lights. But it depends on how big the crocea is also. If it is smaller--3 inches or less--than you should put it closer to the lights but if it is over 3 inches than it will be okay anywhere.

Thanks for the info. Also, do they prefer the sand or LR?

I'd have to say it depends on the clam, lol. Some clams love it on the lr, especially croceas and maximas, but some don't. I have a maxima on my LR, while my crocea is on the bottom of the tank. My tank is barebottom though. I'd try putting it on the LR where it can't fall and hurt itself. Also, if you do put the clam on the sand, put a piece of LR under it so the clam can attach to it. That way you can move it around if you want.

Thank you for your suggestion.

+1 LR

even if you have it in the sand bed, you want it to attach to a small piece of LR so that it can be moved without damaging its foot. just in case you have to move the tank or do some rearranging

I have the same fixture... just got it last friday. I have my 4 inch clam about 14-15" bellow the water line and seems happy. I have my new maxima about the same place and my deresa is on the bottom.

How about a FTS with your clams so I can see the placement.
Thanks.
