Crocea clam w/o halides for 4 days

Will four days without halides cause any significant harm to my clam? I'll still have the atinics on for 12 hours a day.

I've got a 4 inch crocea clam (gold / brown) and my normal photo period is 12 hours of 2x24W T5 atinics and 4 hours of 1x250W 10K DE HQI halides. The tank is a 37g Oceanic semi-cube, the clam is 4 inches below the surface, and the lights are 8 inches above the surface.

I'm leaving my tank in the care of a friend over the holidays, and I'd rather not have them have to worry about top-off water. Without the halide I topped off once I week, now I need to top off once a day.

Thanks,

John

if you ask me it should be fine, but last time i left a friend to watch my tank, an hermit crab supposedly ate my crocea :smokin: gotta love friends

Just a quick follow-up, the clam did fine -- no noticeable difference from before I left. Even without the halides the water level had dropped quite a bit. Time to invest in an auto-topoff if I can find one that'll fit in my Remora overflow box.

Wow -- post-Katrina clams surviving 3 weeks of no lighting except for windows, iodized salt, and a follow-on month of normal output fluorescents.
