Crocea Clam

I put my thread here because there is no clam session.

HI everyone,
How to know Crocea clam is receiving enough light?
My tank is AP24 with 1-32W square pin Dual Daylight 10000°K/6700°K Daylight bulb, 1-32W square pin Dual Actinic 460nm/420nm Actinic bulb, 2 blue LED lights

I turn on light for 10 hours a day. From the light to the clam is 14" distance.

Its a beautiful Crocea but most clams don't do well under anything but MH lighting. How long have you had it under the PC's? If this is a new addition you will probably notice it going "brown" in about 2-3 weeks. This is the color of the algae spectrum typical under PC lighting. Just keep an eye on it for now........Good luck

There is a clam forum but its something like "tridacna and other mollusks" Yours is a "tridacna crocea" - theres a lot of good reading in there about clams.

It is generally encouraged to have them under more than PC lighting and in more mature stable tanks .. you might change your mind about keeping one in a tank that looks so new yet when you read in there - I don't want to discourage you or tell you what to do, but please read up on them and decide if you think you can take care of it well :)

best of luck, beautiful clam!
