Crocea foot damage

I just recieved a 2.5 crocea clam and there was a large piece of the foot floating in the bag. And the hole underneath looks jagged and torn.

He looks ok otherwise and is opened nicely right now.

From what I have read this is not good and could lead to secondary infection and death. The vendor is telling me this is normal and not to worry. Will this clam survive?

time will tell, as long as he dropped it on his own he should be fine. if it was removed by force ........

I had mine drop his foot when I transferred tanks. I had it in a container and the rock it was on fell over, the clam fell off, but the foot (or something?) was still attached to the rock. It wasn't a large piece, but there was a hole where it used to be under the clam. That was over a month ago and its fine, opens nicely, and is again attached to a new rock. I almost cried when it happened, as I am pretty attached to my clam.

I hope yours makes it! If its opening, I would say thats a good sign.
