Crocea in trouble. Can you please help???

Hi,
Well he didn't like the spot I put him in, so he detached his foot last night and is now in the sandbed on a small rock. I didn't see him release anymore zoo last night. He's in some MH light and some PC light. I will let you know what happens. TY

My issue is different then as it seemed to take weeks and I couldn't tell day to day it got worse. I extended my halide time and will see if the extra light helps. My derasa looks great during all this.

yeah, they are two different things. your lose of zoox was due to a lack of light ( short photo period ) and can take a long time to become evident. also you are looking at it every day so the change is not as noticeable, like you don't notice your hair growing as much as someone you only see once a month would.

marinegirls loss of zoox is due to being shocked by to much light to fast. the loss of zoox is very rapid and can be fatal to a clam in very short order. ( not that yours cannot end up being fatal, it just takes longer )

crocea's and derasa's are on opposite ends of the scale for lighting requirements. the crocea requires the most where as the derasa has one of the lowest requirements.

So far I think my clam likes it better where he's at right now. I haven't seen anymore zoo yet. I hope I don't. Should I wait about a week to move him a little closer? I wouldn't do it all in one step of course. I just want to make sure I do it correctly this time. Thank you so much. You all helped a ton

i would leave him down there for a couple more days and just watch. there is no doubt that in the long run he will do much better of up closer to the lights but for now just get him stabilized :)

How about 20k xm SE bulbs, should I replace them with 14k or less?

20K bulbs start with 1/2 the PAR of a 10K bulb
20K bulbs have a narrower spectrum than the others ( with emphasis on blue )
20K bulbs need to be replaced every 6 months, 14K 8 - 9 months and 10K 12 months.

i have seen many people keep clams under 20K bulbs it usually isn't a problem.

For me personally, I think 20k is too blue. I still want to make out reds and other colors. I have a 20k bulb for another MH pendant I have from PFO. It burned so blue. It made the entire room blue. Maybe it is different because it is a screw in mh? The one on my SW is a HQI. Let me know. Also what brand?

sorry i was just answering a question for Nitroq2 and pointing out some problems with 20k bulbs.

i think they are to blue as well, i use 10k XM's or 10K Venture's but they are SE's.

Sorry Marinegirl for hijacking your thread and causing confusion. I am using 250w 20k XM SE's now and my colors really pop with them. A4 could put up a pic or send me a pm with your 10ks thanks.
