Crocea or Maxima??

OK, I've always wanted a Electric Blue Maxima (2" - 3") for my ten gallon. I've set the tank up just for the clam and SPS.

Well, after looking at Barry's new clams, I've got to say that I am liking Croceas far better. The coloration is just awesome! I have yet to see a Maxima that even comes close.

So, what kind of info can you guys give me on Croceas? How fast do they grow? How much lighting and flow do I need?

The tank has a Iwaki 30RLT providing flow and a 175 watt 20,000K XM for lighting. I have a Remora (not the Pro) in the sump, powered by a Mag 5. Calcium is added through kalc in the top off.

I understand that any clam will out grow this tank fairly quickly, but I have a 29 gallon I'm currently working on.

Any advice?

MarkS-Croceas need more light than Maximas, but you have plenty of light. They don't grow very fast, and are the smallest of the Tridacna clams-I think they top out around 10".It sounds like you have more flow than any clam would like, but I might be wrong.
I agree that Coceas have the brightest colors.

Actually, the flow is not very strong at all. I have to cut it back by more than half just to keep from overflowing the aquarium! I'm about to switch out the pump with one that is not pressure rated.

Thanks for the info!
