I see all kinds of pictures of peoples tanks with Crocea's and maxima's in the sand bed. I have been told that they need to be kept in the rocks because the booger man or something can come up from underneath and eat them. I heard that Squamosa and Deresa were ok for the sand. Is it ok to keep Max and Cro. in the sand??? Let me know your thoughts ,Thanks

Yes, if your lighting is sufficient at the bottom. They are light-lovers. No problem with the clams in the rock-work so long as they are not falling down frequently. Pyramidal snails could attack the clams anywhere in the tank, as could bristle worms, so place them where you want. Bob

I have all of my clams on my dsb. If you place them on the sandbed it is recommended that you place a piece of rock or a shell for them to attach to. This will help them keep a tight seal around the byssal gland so predators cannot gain access to it.
