Cross-breeding Maroons (JUST CURIOUS)

Not much...You will get a % of each and % of combo. Why would you do it? GSM's take forever to settle in.I would rather put 2 and 2 together.....then wait the year for them to start spawning.

"What about the "yellow stripe" versus "white stripe" Maroons? These are the same species... and in fact, though they tend to stay one or the other, can and do change in the color of their banding on the basis of nutrition."

I do not believe this.

Well, that's what I saw. Not saying it's true or not; just putting it out there. Do you mean that you don't believe that they're the same species, or that they change their colors?

" "can and do change in the color of their banding on the basis of nutrition.""

This is simply not true. Although the brightness of the yellow bands may be effected by nutrition, I have seen no evidence that any diet can change a stripe from white to yellow.

I also had the chance to meet Mr.Fenner and since that time I belive even less of what he says..

He states they can change color on basis of nutrition, but I don't think he meant from gold to white stripes or vice versa, but rather brighter or duller colors, and I do agree w/ that.
I've even read some say their clowns changed, or lost stripes, some becoming misbars later on.
This has never happened to me, just parroting others comments.
I had a GSM and WSM and they were spwaning regularly, but I never felt like taking on the challenge of breeding them.
They were a great combo/pair IMO.

Breeding clowns is alot of work.
Maroons for me just weren't enough $$ to make it worth it.
Now my picassos, can't wait for those to start spawning.
I will deal w/ the hassles on breeding those.
