Crushed Coral

So I was going to be setting up a fowlr tank but instead of sand I wanted a larger grain base. I was looking at live crushed coral. Ive heard some people says it good and some say its bad. Some say its bad because it holds bacteria etc. I have it as a base in my sump and I love it. But I was wondering what you guys thought about it and if this is the only crushed coral out there. I cant really find anything close to this..

It tends to trap a lot of stuff so I don't like it.

Just posted in chemistry looking for the best way to swap out crushed coral for sand.the tank has a nitrate problem it not crazy high but it gets maintenanced a lot. And yeah it looks great but it has a low bio load.a tank with alot fish means alot of WELL more cleaning of the substrate. If you don't like cleaning all the time the sand is a little more forgiving

agreed. moreover, some fish like wrasses and cucumbers like sand.

I got a 15lb bag to mix in with some finer bimini pink

I would go with Carib Sea special grade. Its a larger particle size but not so large that it traps detritus like crushed coral. Its big enough not to get blow around but small enough where it still has that nice sand look to it.
