I got 50 lbs of this was going to have a fish only tank at one time. I'm going to set up my 75 using Tampa Bay Rock and sand. can i pour some of this in my 25 on top of fine sand . And mix some with Tampa bay live sand. Any draw backs addind like like I've mentioned ?

Aside from the dust cloud?
What other livestock do you want from the Gulf of Mexico?

I just emptied my tank of 60 lbs. of CC and replaced it with 60 lbs. of live sand. The CC held too much detritus, nitrates weren't great, the goby hated it. If you put sand over CC, eventually the CC will surface and you'll be back to square one.....

What can I do with it ? Use it in driveway this winter!
It makes a good throw pillow for your chair !:p

Crushed Coral is cheaper plus I think it reflects light better so fish I think look healthier but Crushed coral stinks.

Why do LFS use only crushed coral in ther tanks?
because they dont know any better ?

i would not use CC if you would pay me for it

crushed coral has the ability to aid the ph at a decent level, and in a fish only if used thinly and cleaned regually is ok, however as mentioned above is just pointless in a reef, the stuff can get covered with detritus and cause nitrates and is hard to remove especially if 2" thick or more, id forget about using it at all ronny and just discard it. the fish wont mind nitrate but corals will and so its a no-no for you imo

Whats the easiest way to remove CC. I have about two or three inches in my tank that I would really like to get rid of without messing up my biological parameters if you will. I guess try and dig out half at a time. Then maybe a month later dig out the other half.

And what kind of sand should you replace it with?

Thanks Lou
