Crystal Clear Water.....HOW?

A good skimmer should keep your water clear. It makes sense. Skimmate is dark stuff. So, if you don't pull it out of the water, it's going to stay in and color the water.

Carbon also supposedly absorbs organic molecules that add color to water.

But if I had to pick one, I'd say skimmer.

I ventilate my fish room. Opening windows get rid of humidity and any ozone that might be around. People makes it sound more dangerous than it actually is. Ozone is used on public aquariums, koi ponds, home reefs and hot tubs for people. The generators for aquarium use is not that strong.

Sean what's your turn over? Tank to sump? I had crystal clear water. In my 120 using carbon, and I skimmed fairly wet. I also had a really high turnover, 1800 gph. It was tricky to get it quiet, but my water was clear. In tank flow is great, but you gotta get the funk from the tank to the sump. I know a lot of people run a lower turn over and it works. Just my .02

psykobowler: can you should me your ozone setup? So far i am thinking of running luft air pump to air dryer to check valve to ozotech generator to check valve to avast ozone generator to a avast mr10 carbon reactor.

Here you go. I don't use an air dryer. The ozotech generator does not need it. Just clean the generator with warm water pumped in and out of the generator using a toms aqua lifter.

The coralife luft pump directly connects to the ozone generator. The ozone generator output goes directly to the avast marine ozone reactor without a check valve. As long as the ozone generator and luft pump has a much higher elevation, water does not go up the tubing.

One of the outlets of the return manifold feeds the ozone reactor

The output on the ozone reactor goes to the next reef monster reactor with carbon. The output of the next reef reactor is positioned in front of the skimmer pump. The skimmer captures any carbon or ozone air.

So does the Monster reactor act as a carbon reactor as well or is it only good for removing the excess ozone? I mean in my setup can i remove independent avast carbon reactor since i am adding the MR10 carbon reactor to the ozone reactor?

Exactly. The monster reactor is my one and only carbon reactor. There is no need for 2 carbon reactors in the system.

Basically the ozone reactor is in between the pump and the carbon reactor. Just an extra step in the process of water sterilization.

i just built my mutiny 2 reactor and mr10 reactors last night ready to test for leakage. then to hook up the ozone. One more question are you running your mutiny from your return pump and if so does that need any special tubing?

Yes, I am running it with one of the manifold on the return pump. It does not need special tubing. For the airline I use the tubing that came with the ozone generator from brs.

psykobowler: how do you keep the air pressure in your mutiny reactor if the luft pump turns off? Am i suppose to run the luft pumpo 24/7 ? what if there is a power failure how do i prevent the water from rising on the tube?

I have the luft pump on 24/7. You can adjust the pump to low so to use less air and electricity. You do not need to turn it all the way up. My luft pump and generator are located high on top of the stand and my ozone reactor is low in the sump so water would have to travel up if that happens. If there is a power failure water will not automatically go up against gravity. Also the pump feeding water to the reactor would be dead too in a power outage.

Btw, I have tested my equipment before, leaving the pump feeding the reactor on and turning the luft pump off. Water will not travel up if the pump and generator is higher. FYI, I spoke to Robert regarding plumbing on the phone.

Thanks for the info Glen and the Mutiny 3, just got done plumbing and should be up and running tomorrow. Returning the dryer tomorrow.

Heres my ORP readings the last 4 days, I received my ORP probe about a week before I hooked my reactor up and my readings was hovering in the low 300's, since the last 4 days it has been steadily climbing and my water looks much clearer and crisp. Amazing to say the least! Have it set on the first day 3am to 5am, next day 3am to 6am, which I am at the moment. Overall I am very happy with it.
