Excited as a little kid as I got my new D40 and a couple lenses! Shooting in RAW for an hour, pics look awesome on the screen!!
Get to my 'puter to load into photoshop and it can't read the Nikon file!!! ARGGHHHH! Looked around on the web and found a supposed download to fix it and no luck!!!! Is there any way this can work or do I HAVE to buy a newer photoshop just to se my pictures? Couple hours into this and frustrated as can be!! Can anyone help?

You can use the software that came with the camera to convert the RAW images to TIFF and then edit in PS.

Google "RAW Therapee". It's a free download and will do a lot of adjustments to exposure and color as well.

I installed the Adobe RAW codec and I can open .CRW and .CR2 files directly in Photoshop Elements.

The problem is that he has CS2 which isn't being updated any more.
