cube thoughts

I'm thinking of picking up a 65 cube I'm currently running a 55 with a 20 gallon sump but it takes up a lot of room in my bedroom and i don't trust my roommates as we are all college students to be in the living room, last time I did there were a few handles along with bottle tops and cans in my tank. So i wanted to get some thoughts on cubes vs. regular tank, heating, circulation, lighting, potential problems with fish ect. maybe some pic too. thx and happy reefing

First, I have never owned a cube. That being said, I love the fact that with a cube you can landscape your rock and corals in true three dimensions. IN a typical "long" tank, you have a lot less front to back space to work with, so most of your rock formations tend to be almost two dimensional rather than having that natural breadth.

The down side to a cube (if it is one) is you lose the swimming length for those fish that require a certain swimming space. I know that is an argument with a lot of viewpoints, but there are fish that most folks believe need 6 feet to swim in.

I like the look of a cube more, but it limits your fish choices. I think they are easier (and cheaper) to light, and you need less pumps for good flow.
