Cubed

I have a 60x60x30 cube that's waiting for me but haven't seen it. I went between 4 sides viewable and 3 sides for a long time as well. I finally decided that I didn't want to waste all the great extra space in the middle with a huge piece of rock, trying to hide a overflow. In my tank i did something a little different and decided to go with 2 smaller overflows that take up 6 in" in 2 opposing corners. The design is so that the overflows could be hidden in two walls that meet up with the tank and allow lines into a fish room that is 15' away.

3 sides viewable would be sweet as well. Just don't like the idea of 4 sided with a central overflow due to the visual pollution.

Unfortunately I can't offer any pictures are its not setup yet. I have some sketchup files of different overflow options I drew up if your interested in those.

Hope that helps.

I would love to see that! I was thinking about doing the same thing, but still making it 4 side viewable. I figure if I just black out two corners on opposite sides no big deal.

Here are just two options that I was kicking around. I eventually decided on the first one but as the tank is drilled but not assembled I can still change my mind to the second option. I have more I just need to find them :(. Hope this helps a little.

Tank design 1, using two oversized Elos style overflows for my drains. The drains would take 6" of viewing space off each side with 2 clear corners and almost unimpeded views through the tank.

Options two, using the same panels but originated differently. This gives me the option of hiding 2 waveboxes and some streams in the overflow as well as 3 drains and a CL intake. The benefit of this option is that you have 3 clear corners.

Almost like the previous one just oriented to get some more space on the kitchen side.

I have more I just don't know where they are right now. I should have another 5 or 6 other options.

I know its only sketchup but hopefully it helps spark some ideas.

J, didn't know you were so easily offended :D

Fuzznutz, I will probably be going with option 2 as well, less unknown variables.

What happened to the original poster? Figure something out by now?

I am the original poster...working 2 jobs, finding time for the 2 kiddies has put my poject on the back burner for the time being. I will live through your build at the moment ;) I hope to get something done after New Years.

Sorry about that fuzznutz!

Best of luck with the planning. If you come up with any alternative solutions let me know.

I'm hoping to get moving on it beginning of december.
