If I start running my phosban reactor and wipe out all the algae in my tank will the CUC end up dieing because of lack of food? I have live rock in the tank by the way.

May have to feed them, which in my opinion is just fine the price of having horse power to work messy crap away when it shows up...

The CUC is like firemen...you really can't complain about them doing nothing most days...when they are needed the save the day.

Being that snails & crabs are fairly easy to get, you might just want to let your tank balance out the population for you. If they happen to die off due to starvation, so be it. Feeding a CUC just doesn't make any since to me. Let's just hope that EVERYTHING you are feeding your CUC is being consumed, otherwise you would have to get a CUC for your CUC. ;)

What do you currently have? not all CUC members eat algae and many are omnivores. I only keep two mexican turbos as algae eaters, the rest are all detrivores or carnivores. Also just because you don't have a huge ball of GHA waving around doesn't mean there are not micro tufts of algae on you rocks and glass.

I had a really bad algae out break due to the lights getting old I think. Guess I went a little over board. I got a CUC and the reactor. I put the CUC in and held off on the reactor to see what they could do. They beat the algae back quite a bit but not to the point where there is none. I think the reactor would wipe it all out. Which I kind a want to do before I put sand in. I went bare bottom because the algae was so bad at the time. I don't want to kill them off though. My sump isn't together yet. I'm wondering with the skimmer and macro algae growing in the sump and a deep sand bed if I'll even need the reactor.
