thought they was sandbed critters
would they be eating algae off tank walls

???

I feel your pain.
Despite being assured that they would not climb out and crawl on me in my sleep :D :D :D, I just couldn't abide the things.
I had 2 that behaved and stayed where they should be and 2 that insisted on trying to climb into my overflow every monent of their lives.

I sent a sizeable donation to my LFS yesterday- the 2 misbehaving cukes, the condy, the rock anemone, 3 urchins, and a decorator crab the size of a baseball.

The condy moved too much, and they have been known to munch fish- even clowns. It was already huge as well as unsuitable for the species clowns I eventually want.

I garden in a very small yard, and I view reefkeeping much the same way.
Every square inch is valuable real estate, and if a plant (or coral or anemone) does not give me 100% bang for my buck it goes.
I'm ruthless that way, but I have a showpiece of a yard. Hoping the tank works the same way.

One of my tigertails would climb up the corner of the tank next to the return spray bar, curl into a ball and fall into the current, and then ride them around the tank. We just figured he really got off on this whole "SuperCuke" fantasy.

My cukes spend the vast majority of their time on the sand. However, they do venture onto the rocks and glass. MUCH more so when my tank was new (not as much food in the sand?). So what? I always thought it was cool to get a close look at them. Just make sure they can't get into your overflows or sucked into your powerheads.

And just as a point of diversity, I don't think of my tank so much as a showpiece of perfection, but as of a living ecosystem full of wonder - at least as much natural chaos as planned order.

too late, got home tonight & 1 was wrapped around an intake tube. his guts had been sucked out & were trapped in my spray bar.

Well, make sure you get as much of the remains out of the tank as you can. I hear they can really pollute a tank when they go...

I have one cuke that after a few days imbeded itself into a crevice in a rock, they it started to send branches out of its moth, the branches look like branches kind of like cobwebs and are probably about 1.5 inches long total... they take turns feeding the mouth... it is an amazing beautiful thing to watch.

The cuke has been in it's place for at least 5 months.
