culligan ro?

Should I buy a ro/di unit or just rent one from a company like Culligan? Are the Maxcaps, etc. reliable over a long period of time?

How much is it to rent one? Have you tried ebay? I got my from aquasafesystems.

It's been working great for me. I'd say the base systems are cheap enough that when the ro filter needs replacing later on, you can just buy a new system instead.

Culligan has a sweet DI set up that you can rent for $20 a month + $150 everytime you need to recharge.

O st uses the same set up. It filters water very quickly.

I looked into Culligan first before buying my RO/DI unit. Those recharge bottles are changed out approx every 8 mos on a 150 gallon setup (assuming normal water changes and top off). - lots of $$$

For the price it makes sense to buy your own - unless you have 1000's of gallons you are needing and having a 75gpd system is just not feasible.

i loved it when i rented one from them! of course some simple math would determine if it is worth your while or not. i really enjoyed the convenience of producing a lot of water in a very short period of time. being that our tds out of the tap is low it sure was worth the money!

get the 75gpd typhoon at air water ice. it's only $150. and it's a 5 stg r.o. di.

I second TNT. I LOVE my Typhoon III
Granted it's $199.00 but worth every penny.
Wow ok guess I can't post the website!!

When people come over they are like WOW that's a nice filter system!
We also use it for drinking water.

I would recomend nothing less.
Mention RC and get a free float valve.

The problem with the Culligan units is... How do you know when to recharge them? Their units are DI only, which is both good and bad. While in reality it probably doesn't matter (reefs don't need absolutely pure water), R/O will do a better job at removing organic molecules (via the carbon filter) and particulate matter.

how do you know when to recharge them...culligan units come with a resistivity meter set at 1 ohmn witch is more accurate than tds. also the little light will go out when ready. for me water dripping out of a unit verse the same speed out of the garden hose was well worth the money for me. it really came down to convenience and my time. not sure if culligan still offers a refer a friend program or not anymore but they would give me 25$ per new account.

I agree. For me, the extra money spent on water faucet speed DI water is really priceless. This is major reason why I have been considering a unit fro culligan.

And the light/resistivity meter is a pretty cool feature as well.

Culligan is actually an account of mine from work. Last time I was there the regional pres. showed me around and spoke to about DI water and the units they lease. Great info!
