One of the projects that my science club will be undertaking is culturing phytoplankton and zooplankton.
Algagen generously donated starter cultures for Nannochloropsis, Tetraselmis and Isochrysis. I have cultured Nanno before and I think I have a pretty good idea of how to set those up in 2L soda bottles with light aeration.
They also sent me a starter culture of rotifers and a large starter culture of calanoid copepods.
I've been reading that the rotifers and copepods can be cultured in 5g buckets (separately of course) and fed with a mixture of the microalgaes we'll be culturing. Does anyone have any advice on the culturing of copepods and rotifers?
Also does anyone know where I can get or make these sieves? http://www.brineshrimpdirect.com/c9/Sieve-Combo-Set-p205.html + a 53micron rotifer sieve?
Thanks!
Jonathan
