Cupramine & CU test

Folks,
I treated Cupramine on my nano QT for the first time.
Water volume is approximately 8 gal so I added 12 drops Cupramine.
A couple of hours later, I tried to estimate concentration of CU by using Salifert CU tester. However, the tester result said that there's no CU.
Is this phenomenon common or unusual?
For your reference, the only thing in the QT is a small quantity of filter media(no sand no rocks).
Thank you for your time.

it is pretty touch to see copper results under .4ppm, IME. your dosage would have provided a .2ppm CU result. I'd wait 24-48 hours from the first dose and add another 12-15 drops and see if easier to see.

I haven't used Salifert but have liked the Seachem tester, even at .2ppm you could see the faintest of blue start to appear.

filter media doesn't include carbon, right?

According to my calculations (see instructions below), you would need a little more than 15 drops to achieve 0.25 mg/L. So, I would add 4 more drops and test again. You should notice a very faint blue from the 0.25 on the chart. Also, you need to let the Cu circulate for a while in your QT before testing.

If the bottle has a dropper cap, use 20 drops (1 mL) per 40 L (10.5 gallons*) the first day, wait 48 hours, then repeat. On non-dropper caps, each inner ring is 1 mL. In freshwater use half dose. Final copper concentration is 0.5 mg/L (0.25 mg/L in freshwater)

Yep, no activated carbon. I appreciate your suggestion. I'll refer to your post.

I appreciate your comment. I'll follow your suggestion. Have a great day.

Correct. And, fish should be in the QT for the gradual build up of copper; rather than hitting the full dose all at once.
