Cupramine, HLLE, and Ich

So I pulled all my fish for ich and have them in a 33 gallon qt tank. My powder brown brought it in even after I QT him, I didn't QT way back when so it was probably dormant in my system. Needless to see he got it and then started giving my other fish it. I pulled everyone and treated with the lower dose of cupramine at 3 drops per gallon. It has been just about a month and was about to stop the treatment. 2 weeks in my scopas started developing what appears to be HLLE on just his head, he doesn't eat as good but still tears up the nori. I was going to run carbon yesterday to start getting the cupramine out and now he has white spots again, ***? I'm not sure if its ich, can it be something else? Didn't think the ich could survive, haven't seen any since day 3. So now I question the next step to take, is it save to keep them in cupramine longer?

I treat for 4 weeks cupramine. Make sure you are treating at a high enough dose. Your tangs should be able to handle the full recommended dose. Could existing spots could be stress marks? Or if your dose is too low then it is not killing all of the disease.
I've never seen a tang develop HLLE from cupramine (have seen it with angels), could water quality be an issue?

I just started up my tank after a four year absence from the hobby and y'all are already scaring me. :(

Hope you get it sorted out soon. FWIW, I've used the tank transfer method most successfully for ich in the past. Copper never worked for me, probably user error.

Did your tang recover from what appeared to be HLLE? I have an angel getting this now during Cupramine treatment. What did you do to cure if he made it?

Yes, he is 100% back to normal. I was concinvced he was a Gonner, he looked bad and wasn't eating. Once QT was over and added back to display he started eating and healing

Some fish just don't like cupramine, and get HLLE very badly. I have an asfur angel that is still healing....

is HLLE contagious? if I were to complete QT with him and put him in the DT, is this a no-no?
