Hi all !

I have a QT with PVC pipes and a cascade filter. No rocks, carbon, anything. My filter media are some sponges that were seeded from the DT and are inside the cascade filter.

Now I dosed cupramine 2 days ago at 0.5 just to find out today that is at 0.2. I dont know what could be absorbing it.

Any ideas?

Thanks !

You should be testing the copper levels twice a day to make sure it stays constant. It usually is some what stable, but can fluctuate and should be adjusted accordingly. A lot of things absorb copper over time but it is possible that you didn't get the right dose initially. If you dont want to test often and you are treating ich, you can always do TTM instead which I find to be a lot easier.

Your sponges may be absorb the cooper giving you false readings. Be careful of overdosing trying to get your numbers back up. You will have more cooper in the tank than the readings indicate which can become very dangerous for the fish.
