Cupramine & Prazipro together?

Greetings all.
I thought I had seen the answer to this but have not seen it re searching the posts...

Can I dose Cupramine @ 0.5 for 4 weeks and PraziPro for 2 weeks at the same time?

Have the swimmers in for 2 weeks w/ Cupramine and then dose PraziPro for 2 weeks leaving the Cupramine in for a total of 4 weeks in copper and 2 weeks in Prazi.
Remove both after 4 weeks with carbon and water changes then 2 weeks of observation?

You can (and I have) but supposedly interaction with copper cuts down on Prazi's effectiveness. I would suggest treating with Prazi after you are done with Cupramine.

I'd do the PP after the Cu too. PP really doesn't stay in suspension for that long (the PP isn't doing anything after about 5 days)and two doses should be given. Fish should be observed closely for a couple of weeks, so you have enough time.

The Seachem site says that a 10 - 14 day dose @ .4 should do it.
I have also read that some dose for 4 weeks?

I have 5 swimmers of 14 that have survived Ich thru 5 weeks of 1.009 hypo and a full cycle of TTM. The Hippo Tank (main carrier) passed last week. The 5 have been @ .5 cu for 7 days and 1 of the blue chromis looks like it has a few scales that are "disturbed" and was not sure if they may be a parasite? hence some urgency to dose the Prazipro? I also dont want to cut Cu short as this may be a strain of Uber Ich!!!

I always use Cupramine/CopperSafe for a full 30 days. And in 30+ years, I've only had one fish still display symptoms of Ich after the 30 days... and even that was not entirely conclusive. On the flip side, I've read about or known about (from friends) dozens of cases of hypo not beating Ich after 30+ days. So, I came to the conclusion that either hypo doesn't treat all strains of Ich or is too difficult to implement effectively.

I agree. Hypo is very difficult to do correctly. Remember if you accidentally exceed 1.009 you restart the clock.

SeaChem has a very good site and great tech support. I agree about the CU level, .35-.40 is plenty of copper. But, read Snorvich's initial post on his ich fallow period sticky and you'll see why 14 days isn't enough Cu time. 14 days is the "normal'' life cycle time for ich; but not all ich parasites follow the rules. The sticky shows that only 68% of ich parasites complete their life-cycle in 14 days. Cu only kills ich in the free swimming stage and many parasites can take well over their allotted time to emerge from their mother-cysts, which aren't killed by the Cu.
The only thing that PP kills are worm parasites and , if this what is causing the scale problem on the Chromis (very doubtful, IMO), this isn't going to doom the fish with a longer Cu period. I would never put any ich infected fish in my DTs with only 14 days of Cu. BTW, Cu will kill a lot of external worms and other external parasites too; but PP does a better internal/external job. If the Chromis gets worse, it could be a Cu reaction and you can drop Cu a bit...but never below .35.
