Cupramine with Nitrofurazone?

So, I have been treating my fish with Cupramine for 3.5 weeks now, and am concerned that I may have a bacterial issue. I would prefer not to remove the Cupramine at this point because I wouldn't feel comfortable interrupting the treatment. I would really like to have a full 4-6 weeks of Cupramine (preferably 6).

So, what do I do? I assume mixing the 2 medications is a bad idea? Do I remove the cupramine, and then begin it again after the Nitro treatment, or continue with the Cupramine a bit longer and hope the bacterial issues sort themselves out with good water quality?

Hmmm... David, i've beeen there before. I would look long term at your fish. 3.5 weeks is good for cupramine. I know I like 4 weeks too, but velvet is most likely dead if ever present, and ich (unless there is a horrible outbreak) has been disrupted quite well (if ever present) with the 3.5 weeks of cupramine. The bacteria will actually kill your fish so I would pull the cupramine w/ a 25-50% WC and heavy carbon for a day then start bacteria meds. I found going after what will kill the fish the quickest is the best route to take. I used maracyn 2 w/ a bacterial infection w/ my conspic and it worked excellent! I highly recommend it.

Also, there are some commercial foods that have an anti-bacterial component you could start until you get the cupramine out.

Then, You have to make a decision on wheather you want to redose cupramine again. Personally, I would be ok w/ 3.5 weeks....
