Cupramine with power filters

Hey guys,

I have a QT setup that is cycled and need to start treating for Cryptocaryon irritans. I see that after you ease into the copper dosage and end treatment you use carbon to remove it from the water. My power filters on the QT have some carbon in the filter media. Should I just get straight filter floss media and wait for it to seed? Or will the amount of GAC in the media not effect treatment?

From the product website

Aqueon QuietFlowâ„¢ Power Filters feature four stages of filtration--mechanical, chemical, biological and wet/dry

If I remove the carbon, I assume I will have to do many water changes to remove ammonia, which will deplete the concentration of copper.

Just slit the filter cartridge and dump the carbon. This carbon is worthless, so don't bother saving it for removing the copper. If you want to run carbon, get a god GAC. Also, the cartridges, minus carbon, do a better job of mechanical and bio- filtration than just floss; which tends to channel.

My main concern was Cupramine killing off any biological filter I may have, thus rendering the powerfilters semi-worthless during treatment.
