Cure for Ich in a reef tank

Ok a little while ago I posted saying that my Royal gramma had Ich and was trying to find a way to cure it with out QTank or copper, some people had mention the use of garlic in the food. But I didnt want to take the time to mince the garlic and mix it in so i tosed in a clove in the first chamber of my 24 AP and presto within a few day ich was gone to be certain of the garlics effectiveness I had a fellow reefer in the area try it on his 2 yellow tank " 120G tank" so the tang police dont start asking questions. Of course we upped the amount of garlic to 10 cloves and put them in a "sock" as we call it so it would be easy to remove and the same thing happened the ich on his 2 Tangs was cured. I want to know how many others have truied this methond. as well as their results.

I used a product called somethign like "garlic guard" to soak food for my clownfish in and it deffinitely cured the ich.

In the past I bumped up the temp, used ozone and kept the lights off. How much of that was voodoo I'm not too sure but it did work. :D

Im sure none of these actually killed or cured the ich. The garlic might give a boost to the immune system, thus making the fish less stressed and less like to show ich. Although, theres a good possible there is still ich in your substrate and rocks just waiting for its chance to cycle and find a fish. Best bet for ridding your tank of ich for sure is to leave the tank fallow (fishless) for 6-8 weeks and treat your fish with hyposalinity (1.009).

JJ thats what im trying to find out about the garlic if anyone has done the research on it cause not every one can take there tank apart especialy if u have LPS and fish for6-8 weeks or buy a ozone reactor
